Breast Cancer -- A Special Focus

The American Cancer Society estimates that one out of every nine women in the United States will develop breast cancer sometime during her life. That's why we are committed to helping women diagnose breast tumors in the earliest stages. Baylor Carrollton's Center for Breast Health provides screening and diagnostic mammograms performed by licensed female technicians. Screening mammograms are available in three convenient locations. Comprehensive diagnostic breast care services are provided in our Carrollton location, including diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound and biopsy services. We provide individualized care and expedient results by offering a personal consultation with a radiologist specializing in breast imaging during all diagnostic breast health services.

Remember, early detection and prevention are keys to better health. Please follow these guidelines:

• Practice monthly self-breast exams. If you have any symptoms whatsoever, CALL YOUR PHYSICIAN IMMEDIATELY!
• Beginning at age 35, discuss routine screening plans with your physician for tests like mammograms and bone densitometry.
• The American Cancer Society recommends annual screening beginning at age 40.

Physical Therapy

We provide evaluation and treatment of osteoporosis and general musculoskeletal problems such as low back pain, radiating pain in the hip or thigh, headaches and numbness or tingling in the hands or fingers, and treatment of post-mastectomy patients to increase range of motion and improve strength.

Services for the Mature Woman

We have a Gerontologist on site to meet the medical needs of the mature woman. A gerontologist specializes in the care of older adults. A gerontologist has completed training in Internal or Family Medicine and has spent an additional 1-2 years training in the medical, social, and psychological issues that concern older adults.
